After working as an Alpharetta Plumber for many years I have seen far too many home-owners part with their hard earned money in situations where they could have really saved themselves from doing so. In this article I would like to pass on a few tips that can help the vast majority of home-owners save money by doing simple repair jobs themselves. Now before you say that you just aren’t “handy” I would like for you to consider this. Everyone has to start from somewhere and whether you catch on quickly or slowly, if you put in enough effort and time you WILL eventually catch on. This is not just true in home improvement and plumbing but in life as well. Take the bold step of giving 100% effort and then take a look at the results that you get. OK now that you are excited and eager to learn let’s press on with a simple how-to.
1. How to unclog a bathroom sink: Most bathroom sinks become clogged due to excessive debris and residue building up in the u-trap of the drain. The u trap is undereath the sink and, oddly enough, draws its name from the fact that it is shaped like a U. Now the U trap is imporant because, among other things, it prevents valuables like jewelry from being lost if they happen to slip down the drain. The u-trap can be cleaned in a variety of ways but we are just going to go over two simple ways in this article. The first way that you can clean a u-trap is using industrial strength drain cleaner. Pour some drain cleaner into the drain and watch the magic happen. The drain cleaner will eat away at the drain blockages and within 30 minutes your sink should be unclogged. This is the easiest method for cleaning a drain but not always the most effective. The second way that you can clean your drain is to unscrew the u-trap and clean it out manually. This is a simple job and can be done in under 15 minutes. The u-trap is threaded and can be easily unscrewed.
Now that you know a couple of easy ways to unclog your sink, you can feel confident that you are well on your way to becoming your very own handyman.
